The Gothic color palette
Void, violet, blood, silver, and mist. A Gothic palette that stays romantic without a costume shop.

Dark, then one metal
Searches for a gothic aesthetic palette usually want black lace and silver, not a brown library. The five colors are Void, Violet, Blood, Silver, and Mist.
Void is the coat, the wall, the boot. Silver is the one metal. Blood is a lip, a rose, or a lining, not a whole dress plus a rose plus a cushion.
Violet and mist
Violet is the romantic dark, useful in a skirt or a shadow. Mist is the pale edge: a collar, a glove, a candle that is not yellow.
If every piece is Void, the palette collapses. Leave one pale or metal note visible.
The library next door
Dark Academia uses Espresso, Oak, and Parchment. Those colors are warm and practical. Gothic colors are cooler and more staged.
One brass lamp in a black room is a borrow. Oak furniture and a blank notebook make the room a library again.

Questions
Is Gothic only black?
Black, named Void here, is the ground. Violet, Blood, Silver, and Mist are what keep it from looking like a uniform.
How do I tell this from Dark Academia?
Dark Academia is oak, brass, and a desk you could work at. Gothic is lace, silver, and a sharper silhouette.
